Our client is an organization in the Greater Milwaukee area looking for a Senior Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with a strong general accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of accounting processes from start to finish. This position offers a blend of traditional accounting responsibilities and fund operations, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants broad exposure across the accounting function.

 

The salary range for this position is $80k–100k.

 

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of the monthly close process, ensuring accounting activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for general ledger activity.
  • Complete balance sheet and other account reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage daily accounting transactions and ensure financial activity is recorded accurately and timely.
  • Support fund-related accounting and operational activities, including monitoring transactions, cash activity, and account balances.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and review account activity for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare financial schedules, reports, and analyses to support internal reporting and business needs.
  • Monitor cash activity and assist with banking and other treasury-related transactions as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams and external parties to gather information and resolve accounting or fund-related questions.
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements and assist with audit requests.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting, and increase overall efficiency.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and proactively follow issues through resolution.
  • Support additional accounting and fund operations responsibilities as business needs evolve.

 

The Senior Accountant will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Experience with fund accounting, investment accounting, financial services, or similar operations is a plus but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own accounting processes and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to take on a broad range of accounting and operational responsibilities.
