Accountant
Our client is an organization in the Fox Valley area looking for an Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation, a positive and collaborative approach, and an eagerness to learn and grow. The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with day-to-day general accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as part of the monthly close process.
- Complete account and balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other transactional accounting activities as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Analyze account activity and help identify unusual items, trends, or variances.
- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audit requests.
- Collaborate with other accounting and business teams to resolve questions and obtain necessary information.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Learn company processes, systems, and operations to develop a broader understanding of the business.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency within the accounting function.
- Take on additional accounting responsibilities and project work as experience and knowledge grow.
The Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred; relevant internship experience may be considered.
- Foundational understanding of general accounting principles.
- Exposure to journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger accounting, or month-end close preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort learning new accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to ask questions, learn, and take on new challenges.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to adapt as responsibilities evolve.
- Desire to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
