Senior Human Resources Generalist
Our client is an organization in the Greater Milwaukee area looking for a Senior Human Resources Generalist. Our client is looking for an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. This individual will support a broad range of HR initiatives while serving as a trusted partner to employees and leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset to the role and be comfortable balancing day-to-day employee needs with longer-term talent and organizational priorities.
The salary range for this position is $80k–100k.
The Senior Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders, providing guidance on employee relations, performance, policies, and workplace matters.
- Manage employee relations situations, helping leaders navigate issues while ensuring consistent and appropriate practices.
- Partner with leadership on employee development, retention, engagement, and workforce initiatives.
- Review compensation recommendations, new hire offers, and internal changes to help ensure alignment and consistency across the organization.
- Support employee career development initiatives and help identify opportunities for internal growth and advancement.
- Coordinate promotions and other employee changes in partnership with managers and leadership.
- Manage and support leave administration, including the FMLA process and related employee communication.
- Coordinate performance evaluation processes and provide guidance to managers and employees throughout the review cycle.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire integration as business needs require.
- Review, update, and develop job descriptions in partnership with managers and business leaders.
- Conduct exit interviews, identify recurring themes, and provide insights that can support retention efforts.
- Develop and facilitate employee and manager training, including performance management, confidentiality, and other HR-related topics.
- Support internship programming and coordinate activities that contribute to the intern experience.
- Assist with student tours, outreach activities, and other programs that introduce individuals to the organization and career opportunities.
- Evaluate HR practices and recommend improvements that enhance the employee experience and support organizational goals.
- Provide thoughtful solutions to complex or sensitive HR situations while balancing employee, leadership, and business needs.
- Support additional HR programs and strategic initiatives as organizational needs evolve.
The Senior Human Resources Generalist will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; formal education or training in Human Resources strongly preferred.
- Progressive HR experience at the Senior HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar level.
- Broad HR knowledge with hands-on experience in employee relations, performance management, compensation, employee development, recruiting, and leave administration.
- Manufacturing experience preferred; experience supporting a plant, production, 24/7, or similarly complex workforce environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic HR partner to managers and business leaders rather than solely providing administrative support.
- Strong employee relations experience with the judgment and confidence to navigate sensitive and complex situations.
- Experience reviewing compensation decisions, offers, promotions, or other employee pay considerations preferred.
- Knowledge of FMLA and other employment-related policies and regulations.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate situations and recommend practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility across all levels of an organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple HR programs and priorities simultaneously.
- Proactive, approachable, and collaborative with a desire to continuously improve HR programs and the overall employee experience.
