Controller
Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area that’s looking for a Controller. This company is looking for someone with 5+ years of experience, analytical, and who has excellent leadership skills. This company offers competitive benefits, high visibility, and a strong, tenured team. This position is onsite.
The salary for this job is $120K – $150K.
The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accurate GAAP financial reporting across multiple locations.
- Partner with leadership and operations to provide financial insights, analyze performance trends, and support business objectives.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, working capital, lender reporting, and covenant compliance.
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and inventory accounting to optimize cash flow and financial accuracy.
- Direct plant and job costing activities, including inventory reconciliation, yield analysis, and cost control initiatives.
- Evaluate capital investments, fleet assets, and business opportunities through ROI, IRR, and performance analysis.
- Maintain effective internal controls and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, audits, and reporting requirements.
- Lead and develop accounting staff while serving as a key financial partner to operations, dispatch, sales, and executive leadership.
The Controller will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field; CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/controller experience, ideally in construction materials or a related capital-intensive industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and multi-location consolidation
- Experience with dispatch/batch software (e.g., Command Alkon, Titan, or similar) a strong plus
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP system experience required
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non-financial operators
- High attention to detail and comfort operating in a fast-paced, hands-on industrial environment
