Our client is hiring for a Property Accountant that will support the day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of properties, including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end close. The ideal candidate will have prior experience within property management or real estate and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

The Property Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and property-level reporting.
  • Complete bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end close.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Review property income, expenses, and general ledger activity for accuracy.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned properties.
  • Partner with Property Managers and internal teams to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with audit requests and additional accounting projects as needed.

 

The Property Accountant will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 3+ years of accounting experience within property management, real estate, or a related industry.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or property management software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Property Managers and other internal teams.
