Accounting Supervisor
Our client is an organization in the Madison area looking for an Accounting Supervisor. This client is looking for someone with 5+ years of accounting experience and CPA. This role offers great benefits and great work-life balance. This role is remote with the opportunity to work in the Madison office.
The salary range for this role is $90k-115k + bonus
The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives.
- Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and productivity standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.
- Allocate workload and resources to meet deadlines and organizational priorities.
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Support management with financial reporting and accounting insights.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Management
- Maintain and strengthen internal control processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with SOX requirements and related documentation.
- Serve as a primary contact for internal and external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requests, testing activities, and remediation efforts as needed.
- Monitor accounting processes to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Evaluate accounting procedures and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
- Assist with system enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting improvements.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
Cross-Functional Support & Special Projects
- Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to support organizational initiatives.
- Provide accounting guidance and technical expertise on business transactions.
- Participate in special projects, system implementations, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities when needed.
The Accounting Supervisor will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- CPA license required.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate team needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
