Our client is an organization in the Madison area looking for an Accounting Supervisor. This client is looking for someone with 5+ years of accounting experience and CPA. This role offers great benefits and great work-life balance. This role is remote with the opportunity to work in the Madison office.

 

The salary range for this role is $90k-115k + bonus

 

The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives.
  • Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and productivity standards.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Allocate workload and resources to meet deadlines and organizational priorities.

 

Financial Reporting & General Accounting

  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Support management with financial reporting and accounting insights.

 

Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Management

  • Maintain and strengthen internal control processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee compliance with SOX requirements and related documentation.
  • Serve as a primary contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Coordinate audit requests, testing activities, and remediation efforts as needed.
  • Monitor accounting processes to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.

 

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Evaluate accounting procedures and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
  • Assist with system enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting improvements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

 

Cross-Functional Support & Special Projects

  • Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to support organizational initiatives.
  • Provide accounting guidance and technical expertise on business transactions.
  • Participate in special projects, system implementations, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities when needed.

 

The Accounting Supervisor will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • CPA license required.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate team needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
