Accounting Manager
Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area looking for an Accounting Manager. Our client is looking for someone with progressive accounting experience, proven leadership skills, and a strong understanding of accounting operations. Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred. This individual will oversee the accounting function, ensure accurate financial reporting, and partner with leadership to drive operational excellence and continuous process improvement.
The salary range for this position is $120k–160k.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Prepare and review financial reports, management reporting packages, and supporting analyses for executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Partner with operations and leadership to provide financial insights, analyze business performance, and support strategic initiatives.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities.
- Coordinate internal and external audits while preparing required schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing operations, as applicable.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial reporting.
- Assist with ERP implementations, system upgrades, and other finance-related projects.
- Support special projects and provide leadership on key accounting initiatives as assigned.
The Accounting Manager will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred, including exposure to inventory and cost accounting.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience leading month-end close processes and preparing financial statements.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- CPA designation or CPA eligibility is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, lead teams, and drive continuous process improvement in a fast-paced environment.
