Our client is an organization in the Beloit area looking for an Accountant. Our client is looking for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys hands-on general accounting and wants to continue developing their skills. The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the monthly close process and ensure assigned accounting activities are completed accurately and timely.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Complete account and balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies.
- Review general ledger activity and ensure accounts are properly recorded and balanced.
- Assist with intercompany accounting activities and reconcile transactions between entities.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for assigned accounts.
- Analyze account activity and investigate unusual transactions or variances.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with other accounting team members to resolve questions and ensure deadlines are met.
- Utilize Excel to organize, analyze, and reconcile financial information.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and improve accounting efficiencies.
- Participate in accounting projects and take on additional responsibilities as knowledge and experience grow.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented accounting environment.
The Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- General accounting experience or a strong educational foundation in accounting.
- Solid understanding of debits and credits, journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Exposure to month-end close activities preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and follow responsibilities through to completion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to research and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Eager to learn, ask questions, and expand accounting knowledge.
- Interest in professional growth and taking on increasing levels of responsibility over time.
