Our client is an organization in the Dane County area that’s looking for a Director of Accounting. Our client is looking for someone with 7+ years of experience, with excellent communication and leadership skills. This company offers a collaborative culture, competitive benefits, and high visibility. This position is onsite.

 

The salary for this position is $175K – $210K.

 

The Director of Accounting will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead accounting operations and financial reporting activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements across multiple entities and business lines.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, cash management, and supporting schedules.
  • Direct budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, reporting procedures, and process improvements to strengthen financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, investors, and banking partners, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Provide financial oversight for development, construction, and investment activities, including project costing, funding analysis, lender reporting, and asset performance monitoring.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while overseeing departmental workflows, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The Director of Accounting will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced accounting/finance credential preferred.
  • 7+ years of accounting and finance experience. Prior experience leading accounting functions, supervising staff, or managing departmental operations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple entities, deadlines, priorities, and cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information.
