Our client in the Mequon area is looking for a Tax Manager. This client is looking for someone with 5+ years of related tax experience, ASC 740 experience, and strong leadership skills.

 

The salary range for this role is $130k-150k.

 

The Tax Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Strategy & Compliance

  • Serve as the Company’s subject matter expert on all tax matters, providing guidance on ASC 740, tax compliance, tax planning, tax research, tax risk management, and the tax implications of business decisions.
  • Lead all federal, state, local, and international tax compliance activities, ensuring timely and accurate filing of tax returns, estimated payments, extensions, and related reporting requirements.
  • Manage internal and external tax resources to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant tax operations.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies that optimize the Company’s tax position while maintaining compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and communicate the impact of changes to leadership.

Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Own the quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision process, including:
  • Ensure accurate tax-related journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Partner with FP&A and Treasury to forecast cash tax obligations, effective tax rates, tax-related costs, and financial statement impacts.

Tax Planning & Business Partnership

  • Partner with Executive Leadership on strategic initiatives including acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, legal entity management, tax elections, and other business transactions to evaluate and manage tax implications.
  • Provide tax guidance to support operational and strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • Lead specialized tax initiatives.

Indirect Tax & Regulatory Matters

  • Oversee indirect tax activities including sales and use tax compliance, nexus evaluations, apportionment methodologies, and state and local tax strategies.
  • Coordinate tax audits, examinations, and inquiries, serving as the primary liaison with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Ensure timely resolution of tax notices and regulatory inquiries.

Accounting & Operational Support

  • Oversee tax, shareholder, fixed asset, and lease accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and compliance with ASC 842 and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Provide technical accounting support for general accounting activities, special projects, and month-end close processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership to support organizational initiatives and business objectives.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Design, document, and maintain tax policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and reporting accuracy.
  • Manage outsourced tax projects and external service providers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of services.

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement culture within the Finance organization.
  • Lead selected Finance Annual Improvement Priorities (AIPs) and other strategic departmental initiatives.

 

The Tax Manager will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field
  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience
  • ASC 740 experience required
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism
  • Management experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
