Controller
Our client is an organization in the Green Bay area looking for a Controller. Our client is looking for an experienced accounting leader with strong technical expertise, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to operate effectively within a collaborative environment. This individual will lead the accounting function, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and serve as a key partner to organizational leadership.
The salary range for this position is $150k–200k.
The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee the organization’s accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Provide technical accounting expertise and guidance on complex accounting matters.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Maintain a hands-on approach to accounting operations and assist with detailed accounting work when needed.
- Partner closely with executive leadership and other departments to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.
- Coordinate external audits and serve as a primary point of contact for auditors and other external partners.
- Oversee financial reporting and ensure leadership has timely and accurate information to support strategic decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting capabilities, systems, and operational efficiency.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and other financial planning activities.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
The Controller will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA certification required.
- Significant progressive accounting experience, including proven accounting leadership experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting required.
- Experience leading financial close processes, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
- Combination of public accounting and private industry experience preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
- Hands-on leadership style with the willingness and ability to work within the details when necessary.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach with the ability to succeed within a flat organizational structure.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership responsibilities with day-to-day accounting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
