Chief Financial Officer

Our established residential real estate client is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to lead their accounting team and activities. This person will assess current accounting processes, uncover areas of opportunity, and make necessary optimizations. This role will also partner closely with the leadership team to ensure the company is set up for success. This is a hybrid position in the Greater Chicago Area requiring 3 days/week on-site.

The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Oversee the accounting department, including both corporate accounting and property accounting functions.
• Own accounting processes, AP/AR, month-end close, cashflows, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, etc.
• Lead a team of 5 including a controller, multiple accountants, an AP specialist, and an accounting assistant.
• Review the work of the team, check for accuracy, and resolve any issues.
• Improve collaboration between accounting & property teams and rework the division of responsibilities to improve efficiency.
• Implement and maintain best accounting practices.

The Chief Financial Officer will possess the following:

• 10+ years of accounting experience
• Must have a residential real estate background
• Experience establishing and upholding procedures & processes
• Able to delegate work and ensure collaboration between teams
• Experience in Yardi, Entrata, or a similar property management tool
• Comfortable making recommendations and working closely with business leadership
