Accounting Manager
Our client is a company in the Minneapolis area looking for an Accounting Manager. Our client is looking for someone with 4+ years of accounting experience, SOX and public controls experience, and strong leadership skills.
The salary range for this position is $100k-160k.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives.
- Establish department goals, performance metrics, and productivity standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.
- Allocate workload and resources to meet deadlines and organizational priorities.
- Financial Reporting & General Accounting Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Support management with financial reporting and accounting insights.
- Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Management Maintain and strengthen internal control processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with SOX requirements and related documentation.
- Serve as a primary contact for internal and external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requests, testing activities, and remediation efforts as needed.
- Monitor accounting processes to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Evaluate accounting procedures and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
- Assist with system enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting improvements.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Cross-Functional Support & Special Projects Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to support organizational initiatives.
- Provide accounting guidance and technical expertise on business transactions.
- Participate in special projects, system implementations, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities when needed.
The Accounting Manager will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
- SOX and public controls experience.
- Strong leadership skills/experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CPA certification preferred
