Cost Accountant
Our client is an organization in the Fox Valley area looking for a Cost Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with related experience, strong attention to detail and highly organized.
The salary range for this position is $70k-110k.
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, maintain, and analyze product cost standards and ensure accuracy in bills of materials and routings.
- Perform monthly cost accounting close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, inventory transactions, and work-in-progress (WIP) accounts.
- Review and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead; investigate and explain variances.
- Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to monitor material usage, yield, and efficiency.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count processes; reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Prepare and analyze cost reports to support management decision-making.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes related to cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory, and production.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency in costing systems.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards.
The Cost Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Well organized and detail orientated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
