Controller
Our client is an organization in the Janesville area looking for a Controller. This company is looking for a high-quality candidate that will think strategically and is willing to design, iterate and refine accounting and financial tasks to best suit.
The salary range for this position is $140-175k.
The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to leadership on key trends and variances
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts
Accounting Operations
- Manage daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting estimates
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled and properly supported
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
- Coordinate and lead external audits and prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Support regulatory and tax filings in collaboration with external advisors
Budgeting & Financial Planning Support
- Assist with the development of annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor actual performance against budget and explain variances
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Assign responsibilities and review work to ensure accuracy and efficiency
The Controller will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required
- 7+ years in a financial leadership role
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
