Our client is an organization in the Madison area looking for a Controller. This company is looking for someone with 5+ years of financial management experience, CPA or MBA, and experience as a financial business partner. This position offers a lot of variety, opportunity to be part of a passionate team with a down-to-earth culture. This position is hybrid.

 

The salary range for this position is $125-156k.

 

The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shape and execute the organization’s financial direction in support of overall business goals
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning initiatives
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on financial performance, trends, and long-term outlook
  • Oversee all core financial functions, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial statements and management reports
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury activities to support ongoing operations and obligations
  • Maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations, standards, and internal policies
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure follow-through on findings and recommendations
  • Design and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Assess team capabilities and implement strategies to strengthen technical skills and leadership capacity
  • Support professional development and career growth across the finance function
  • Act as a key point of contact for external partners including financial institutions, auditors, and advisors
  • Prepare and present financial information to executive leadership, finance committees, and the board
  • Collaborate with department leaders to support operational and strategic initiatives
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems, workflows, and reporting processes
  • Drive efficiency initiatives that enhance financial performance and cost management
  • Ensure financial systems and tools effectively support organizational needs

 

The Controller will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required
  • 5+ years of finance experience
  • CPA or MBA required.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
