Our client is a real estate organization in the Milwaukee area looking for an Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with 2+ years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail and highly organized. This company offers amazing benefits, growth opportunities, and flexibility. This position is hybrid.

 

The salary range for this position is $55k-75k + bonus.

 

The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Support and participate in the annual budgeting process, including monitoring actual performance against budgeted figures.
  • Track and analyze property-level costs, flagging variances and potential issues to management as needed.
  • Review monthly variance reports and reclassification/accrual entries prepared by portfolio directors.
  • Participate in quarterly forecast calls and provide analysis on property-level performance.
  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Review income statements for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset schedules, ensuring proper tracking and depreciation.
  • Calculate and process quarterly investor distributions based on property performance and ownership structure.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and closing processes.
  • Manage cash reserves and escrow accounts to ensure compliance with operational and lender requirements.
  • Assist third-party accounting firms with year-end tax returns, audits, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare tax filings for multiple legal entities and compile audit workpapers for select entities.
  • Document accounting procedures and workflows for consistency and accuracy.
  • Review and reconcile monthly bank statements; assist in resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Contribute to special projects, ad hoc reporting, and spreadsheet development as requested.
  • Complete annual calculations for triple net lease obligations.

 

The Accountant will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Associates degree required.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • High detail of attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
