Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee County area that’s looking for a Tax Director. Our client is looking for someone with 7+ years of experience, inquisitive, and who has excellent leadership skills. This company offers flexibility, a collaborative culture, and a brand-new office to work in. This position is hybrid.

 

The salary for this position is up to $170K – $210K.

 

The Tax Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead preparation of federal and state tax returns for family-owned and personal entities, including corporations, partnerships, trusts, individuals, and foundations.
  • Develop and implement long-term tax strategies aligned with family office goals, focusing on risk mitigation and optimization.
  • Oversee continuous improvement of tax processes, reporting, and technology, leveraging automation and AI where possible.
  • Serve as primary liaison with tax authorities, handling audits, correspondence, and complex tax matters.
  • Ensure audit-ready tax documentation, work papers, and compliance records with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, proactively adjusting strategies to maintain compliance and optimize opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and external advisors on strategic initiatives and special projects.
  • Mentor and develop tax team members, promoting excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.

 

The Tax Director will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of related tax and management experience is required, preferably in corporate or public accounting environments.
  • Proficiency in tax software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and innovative mindset.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and understandable manner.
  • Advanced mathematical and reasoning abilities, including statistical analysis and financial modeling.
