Responsibilities
As the HR Manager, you’ll lead all aspects of human resources in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals
- Providing guidance and support to middle management on consistent HR practices
- Ensuring the employee handbook remains current with all applicable laws and regulations
- Managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes
- Driving employee engagement through recognition programs, feedback tools, and professional development opportunities
- Leading performance management and evaluations across the organization
- Ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal HR policies
- Conducting audits, managing workers’ comp, and fostering a safe, supportive workplace
- Administering employee benefits in collaboration with finance
- Supporting compensation benchmarking and internal pay equity
- Maintaining accurate HRIS records and employee files
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, or a related field (PHR or SHRM-CP preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (nonprofit experience strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Natural communicator and problem-solver with a proactive, solutions-first approach
- Comfortable working independently and taking the lead on HR initiatives
- Experienced with tools like Paylocity, Microsoft Office, and other HRIS platforms
