A well-established, global organization in the manufacturing and financial services sector is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead its finance team. This high-visibility role supports both corporate finance and operations, offering the opportunity to drive transformation initiatives, strengthen technical accounting processes, and mentor a talented team. Compensation:

  • $150K–$210K base salary + 20% bonus

Work Arrangements & Location:

  • Hybrid in Chicago, IL
  • Currently 3 days/week in office (flexibility depending on business needs)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with operations to identify and drive process improvements, resolve challenges, and provide financial insights to support decision-making
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and present results to leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, financial statements, and statutory/management reporting
  • Serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert for the finance function
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team while supporting a larger operational group
  • Manage balance sheet reviews, audits, and ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and IFRS
  • Drive transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation and AI strategy

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 8–10+ years of experience with a strong technical accounting foundation
  • Public accounting background with some industry experience (open to directly from public)
  • Exposure to the financial services industry required
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to mentor and elevate a team
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX; IFRS knowledge a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a continuous improvement mindset
