Director of Accounting

Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area looking for a Director of Accounting. Our client is looking for someone with 8+ years of accounting experience, CPA certification, and strong attention to detail.

The Director of Accounting will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all accounting processes, including month-end close, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure financial reporting accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP, ASC standards, and SOX requirements.
• Serve as the primary resource for technical accounting inquiries, interpreting and applying complex accounting standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to modernize workflows, reduce close cycle time, and increase efficiency through automation and best practices.
• Develop and implement the theatres division’s accounting plan for integrating artificial intelligence into processes for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
• Partner with theatre operations, shared services, and executive leadership to ensure alignment of accounting practices with business objectives.
• Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external audits, coordinating support and resolving findings promptly.
• Oversee sales and use tax compliance, including review and timely filing of returns.
• Leverage ERP and CPM systems to optimize reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process by collaborating with finance teams and providing accurate accounting insights for key line items.

The Director of Accounting will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 8+ years of accounting experience.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Well organized, detail oriented and accurate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
