Controller
Our client is an organization in the Madison area looking for a Controller. This company is looking for someone with 5+ years of related experience, strong communication skills, and job costing experience.
The salary range for this position is $90k-120k.
The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, job costing, accounts payable, fixed assets, journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; ensure timely and accurate reporting and departmental financial analysis.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis against actual results.
- Oversee full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor invoice review, account coding, and annual 1099 reporting.
- Manage full-cycle accounts receivable, including customer setup, invoicing, cash application, reconciliations, collections, and related reporting; implement best practices for AR processes.
- Assist in managing payroll through coordination with outsourced payroll providers.
- Develop and maintain weekly cash balance reports and annual daily cash flow projections.
- Track and post all job-related costs, including labor, equipment, and materials, for job costing analysis.
- Prepare accurate and timely work-in-progress reports for all jobs; review job performance for accuracy and analyze gains and fades on completed projects.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and other stakeholders to validate job cost performance and support profitability reviews.
- Provide leadership with clear and actionable WIP and job profitability reports to inform decision-making.
- Lead job performance reviews in management meetings, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
The Controller will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required
- 5+ years of finance experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or construction industry
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
