Our client is an organization in the Milwaukee area looking for an Assistant Controller. Our client is looking for someone with 5+ years of accounting experience, who is hands-on and highly organized. This company offers growth opportunities, flexibility, and an awesome team!
The salary range for this position is $100k-150.
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close activities to ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted on schedule.
- Conduct thorough reviews of financial data to ensure alignment with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to promote data integrity and reduce risk of error or fraud.
- Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements, and internal compliance frameworks.
- Partner with corporate and divisional controllers to promote consistent accounting practices and reporting across the organization.
- Facilitate internal and external audit processes by organizing supporting documentation and addressing audit inquiries.
- Contribute to cash flow analysis and oversee working capital initiatives, including bank account reconciliations and cash activity monitoring.
- Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable teams, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and accurate ledger entries.
- Support federal, state, and local tax compliance, including oversight of sales and use tax filings.
- Collaborate with finance and IT teams to improve reporting tools and implement automation for increased process efficiency.
- Participate in due diligence efforts and integration planning related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Provide leadership to team members through effective hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and budgeting.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support department and organizational goals

The Assistant Controller will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Must be able to be in Milwaukee, WI once a month.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
