Title:  Indirect Tax Senior

Work Arrangement:  Can certainly entertain once or twice a month but big Preference is in MKE or CHI and once a week in office in Racine. 

COMPANY: $3B Manufacturing Company located in Racine. Modine is a Global company and has offices in Europe, Asia, Brazil, Southern China and India.  

HIRING MANAGER:  Jason Stanic – Deloitte start, been with Rockwell, GE and Modine since.  Just under 20 years of total experience.  Global Tax Director.
This will report directly to Clare (Senior Indirect Tax Manager) who sits in the UK and is FANTASTIC.  Huge selling point for this person.  KPMG and Deloitte start, with Modine for several years, polished, great energy, and a big advocate and selling point for this person.  

WHY OPEN:  Both succession planning for an upcoming retirement in addition to upgrading and expanding the role as Clare looks to elevate herself and do more.  Growth for this person will be into all areas of indirect and global tax (not just US pieces).  

ROLE SPECIFICS: 

  • Responsible for sales and use tax compliance and related matters including assisting in determining taxable vs. exempt transactions.
  • Ensure compliance of all U.S. indirect tax by managing relationship with internal Domestic Tax Analyst and external advisors if necessary.
  • Manage implementation of sales and use tax software including coordination with external advisors and internal software users.
  • Coordination of U.S. sales and use, personal property and real estate tax audits.
  • Perform sales and use tax research/analysis for major business changes/issues or special projects as they arise including reserve assessment if necessary.
  • Research and communicate proposed and enacted changes in sales and use tax laws and direct any updates and/or tax system changes.
  • Work with business units to improve tax systems and resolve tax disputes.
  • Manage tax registrations for all U.S. legal entities, including review of compliance needs where potential nexus exists.
  • Coordination of domestic indirect tax account reconciliations.

IDEAL PROFILE: 

  • 3+ years out of public or industry
  • Strong communication, polished enough to communicate externally and strategically think through things.  Don’t want someone that just crunches the numbers but thinks through what they mean, the “why”, and ability then to advise clients both internally and externally.
  • Domestic indirect tax experience is key:
  •                 S&U tax, property, real estate, excise, etc.
  •                 International/global indirect tax involves things like VAT taxes or GST, AST, etc.  Right now Clare does a lot of this but would love for someone to at least be familiar with what these things are, the different regimes that play into this, and desire to want to get more into those global areas as well.

SALARY: $80k-$110k target salary, bonus on top of that (6%).
