Our client is a leader in construction material manufacturing and is currently looking for a Controller to join their team.  This position will be responsible for assisting in all facets related to the financial reporting and accounting close process.  The company boasts a family-like atmosphere, strong benefits, beautiful office space, great work/life balance and long tenured employees. The Controller will be very hands-on and will oversee the accounting and finance functions for the company. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • The Controller will prepare reports to summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Ensure financial close is performed timely and accurately, in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with company policies.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly/year-end activities through completion and review of journal entries and preparation of account reconciliations.
  • Compilation and review of schedules to be used by the outside accountants in their reviews and year-end compilation.
  • Review technical guidance as necessary to ensure accounting is performed in conjunction with GAAP.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerk as well as Payroll and assist in identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Work cross functionally with department heads and in conjunction with the billing team.
  • Assist in development, implementation and interpretation of standard operating procedures and assist in internal and external efforts to evaluate internal controls and implement improvements as identified
  • The Controller will perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Controller will possess the following:


  • The Controller will have 5+ years’ relevant accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
  • The Controller will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
