Our client is an organization in the greater Milwaukee area looking for an Assistant Controller. Our client is looking for someone with 5+ years of accounting experience, a CPA, excellent organizational and time management skills. The salary range for this position is $90k-$125k.

 

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Corporate Controller with monthly closing process, including journal entry processing, entries related to inventory and standard costs, balance sheet reviews, reserve analysis and account reconciliations.
  • Prepares and oversees annual, quarterly, and monthly sales tax reporting, ensuring tax system is updated.
  • Assists in coordination of the annual physical inventory process, annual bonus and profit-sharing calculation, and fixed asset reporting.
  • Supports Corporate Controller with preparation of the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Proactively identify root causes of standard costs issues and business process gaps and opportunities for improvement within the cost accounting and inventory management cycles.
  • Analyze variances from standard costs and draw meaningful conclusions from the data with a goal of reducing variances by continuous improvement.
  • Supports cost accounting, accounts payable, billing and collections as needed.
  • Leadership responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, training, development and performance management and goal setting which includes ongoing and annual performance evaluations.
  • Drives engagement and employee ownership, creating a culture where people are motivated to do their best to achieve company objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

The Assistant Controller will possess the following:

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive program, subject to the rule governing the program.
